Partners for Progress

On September 15, 2005 over 70 Long Island South Shore Estuary Reserve partners joined Captain Mike Eagan aboard his vessel Lauren Kristy, to discuss progress, successes, and challenges in advancing priorities of the Reserve Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP). This informal work session of Reserve stakeholders helps to establish and strengthen partnerships for CMP implementation.

Reserve partners provided interpretive presentations on several recognized South Shore Bayway Destinations, including: the Fire Island Lighthouse; Captree and Robert Moses State Parks; and, Oak Beach Park. |

The first South Shore Estuary Reserve Council Stewardship Award was presented to Bill Hamilton, a local baymen and member of the Brookhaven Bayman's Association, in recognition of his dedication and contributions to the restoration of the Long Island South Shore Estuary Reserve. His work to Make Great South Bay Great Again is an inspiration to others and exemplifies outstanding stewardship. |
