Thank you for visiting the South Shore Estuary Reserve (SSER) website. In 1993 the governor and the state legislature determined that it was in the public interest to establish a council made up of representatives of state and local governments and private citizens to create a SSER, prepare a comprehensive management plan and make recommendations to preserve, protect and enhance the natural, recreational, economic and educational resources of the reserve, which the state and local governments may then incorporate into policy, laws or regulations. This website has been created and is frequently updated to accomplish these aims and to inform you of past, current and future activities of the Department of State, the SSER office, our partners and stakeholders.
